Draga braćo i sestre, dragi prijatelji,
Moje ime je Bojan Srba i živim u Trebinju sa porodicom. Obraćam se ovom Molbom da, ukoliko ste u mogućnosti i ukoliko želite, pomognete u prikupljanju sredstava za operaciju naše kćerke Irine, koja je planirana u Istanbulu krajem jula ove godine. Radi se o obostranoj ugradnji kohlearnog implanta, tzv. ,,vještačkog uha’’.
Irina je rođena 16. oktobra 2023. godine, kao zdravo terminsko dijete i ništa nije ukazivalo na problem koji ćemo kasnije otkriti. U našoj bolnici u Trebinju, u vrijeme kada se Irina rodila, nije radio aparat za provjeru sluha pa joj zbog toga taj prvi skrining sluha, a ispostaviće se kasnije – vrlo bitan, nije ni rađen. Da Irina ima problema sa sluhom, počeli smo da sumnjamo kad je imala oko 7 mjeseci, zbog njene slabije interakcije i nedostatka reakcije na razne zvukove. To smo i potvrdili nakon što joj je urađeno prvo BERA testiranje (na našu inicijativu), kao i ASSR test, odnosno provjera praga sluha. To su potvrdili i ORL specijalisti iz Banja Luke, nakon ponovljenog BERA testa. U međuvremenu je Irina imala brojne preglede kod mnogih ORL specijalista i audiologa, kako u Trebinju tako i u Beogradu, Podgorici, Sarajevu i Banja Luci. Na preporuku specijaliste iz Mostara, šest mjeseci je nosila slušne aparate, gdje je cilj bio razvijanje slušnog nerva međutim, s obzirom da Irina ima veliko oštećenje, slušni aparati su tu bili nemoćni i sa njima nije bilo nikakvog efekta. Jedino rješenje za ovaj stepen oštećenja je ugradnja kohlearnog implanta, sa kojim je garancija dobijanja sluha gotovo stoprocentna.
Čvrsto smatramo da je za naše dijete I za njen psihomotorni razvoj izuzetno značajno da bude implantirana na oba uha. Zbog toga i nastojimo da omogućimo operaciju u Istanbulu, u klinici ,,Liv Ulus’’, koju bi izveo dr. Özcan Öztürk, veliki stručnjak u tom polju koji je mnogu djecu, kako iz Bosne i Hercegovine, tako i iz cijelog svijeta, uveo u svijet čujućih, upravo ugradnjom kohlearnog implanta.
Mi kao roditelji željno iščekujemo momenat kada će Irina reagovati na naš glas. Uz Vašu pomoć, nadamo se i čvrsto vjerujemo da će se taj momenat uskoro i desiti.

My name is Bojan Srba and I live in Trebinje with my family. I am reaching out with this humble request, hoping that, if you are able and willing, you might help us raise funds for the surgery of our daughter Irina, which is scheduled to take place in Istanbul at the end of July this year. The surgery involves bilateral cochlear implantation, also known as the ‘’artificial ear’’.
Irina was born on October 16th, 2023, as a healthy full-term baby, and there were no signs of any issues at birth. However, at the time of Irina’s birth, the hearing screening device at our hospital in Trebinje was not operational, so the initial hearing screening – which we later realized was crucial – was not performed.
We first began to suspect that Irina might have hearing problems when she was around seven months old, due to her reduced interaction and lack of response to various sounds. Our suspicions were confirmed after her first BERA (Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry) test in Mostar, which we arranged ourselves, as well as the ASSR (Auditory Steady-State Response) test, which determines hearing thresholds. ENT specialists from Banja Luka later confirmed the diagnosis after repeating the BERA test.
In the meantime, Irina underwent numerous examinations by many ENT specialists and audiologists in Trebinje, Belgrade, Podgorica and Banja Luka. On the recommendation of a specialist from Mostar, she wore hearing aids for six months in an attempt to stimulate her auditory nerve. However, due to severity of her hearing loss, the hearing aids had no effect. The only solution for this degree of hearing loss is the cochlear implant, which has an almost guaranteed success rate in restoring hearing.
We firmly believe that it is extremely important for our child’s overall psychomotor development that she receives implants in both ears. This is why we are doing everything we can to enable her surgery at the ‘’Liv Ulus’’ hospital in Istanbul, which would be performed by Dr. Ozcan Ozturk, a renowned specialist in this field who has helped many children from Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world, to enter into the world of hearing, through cochlear implantation.
As parents, we long for the moment when Irina will finally react to our voices. With your help, we strongly believe and hope that this moment will come very soon.
The total cost for this surgery is 39000 €.
