Hi, my name is Virginia Stewart and I am Tony’s fiancé.
I am here to garner support for him because of a painful emergency with his teeth because of his Stage IV Throat Cancer. He hasn’t been able to eat chewable foods for years, and now his jaw infections are so overwhelming and causing so much pain, he has to get his teeth-roots removed immediately.
Tony might loose his lower jaw because of the 47 radiations he endured back in 2011. It caused him to loose All of his teeth in 2019 and he has had multiple surgeries in his mouth because of it. (His teeth literally just all broke off due to so much radiation). He went through so much suffering, and had surgeries in his throat called a tracheostomy to keep his 3cm big tumor from engulfing his throat and which he could stop breathing. He also went through 2 more surgeries where the doctors installed a PEG Feeding Tube for nutrition since he could not talk, eat, drink, or swallow anything, and another additional surgery for a chemo port for administering chemo. He had the feeding tube for 13 years because he could not swallow.
He went through stage iv throat cancer and got through it, just to have to go through yet another painful experience by not being able to eat healthy foods nor be able to to be pain free for the last 5 years.
4 years ago, Tony went to a dental company that starts with a ‘W’, and paid them $6,000 to have all of his upper roots removed and to have them make dentures. They provided a surgery of root removal, gave him an upper temporary denture. Then when he went back a month later to pick up his permanent dentures, he found out they had lost them. They didn’t care or try to help. He took it up with the management and corporation, and they wouldn’t make another set or make it right for him. He had lost his receipt so he didn’t have proof to appeal it further unfortunately.
He’s been living with Only an Upper temporary denture for over 4 years, and that doesn’t even fit anymore.
The past year, we have been getting consultations from dentists to get quotes for dentures. We had discovered with his newer panoramic Xrays, that 4 years ago, the other dentist company did not however, remove all of his upper roots, but only most of them.
We also learned during his new dentist visits, the videos show that his lower jaw is getting thin, and will keep getting thinner if he doesn’t get his lower teeth-roots taken out and have another surgery to install bone graphs into his jaw so he could one day eat correctly. His Primary doctors said that he is eating to many bad foods and causing his sugars to go up and he now has borderline diabetes. Tony can only eat soft, mashed foods because he is unable to chew. He occasionally gets gum infections and the Dr’s and ER Dr’s prescribe meds to make it better at the time. All of Tony’s doctors are helping him get back on track and to get him heathy again.
All of Tony’s lower teeth ‘roots’ are still in his gums. (Because his teeth just broke off). The current Dentist said the recent Xrays show his entire lower and upper gums/ jaw lines having massive infections. This is what’s causing him so much constant mouth pain and infections. He was just occasionally getting antibiotics for the massive pain and infections, but it was never solving the problem and causing, under-lying issue.
In order to get Tony out of his on-going, constant pain that he’s been living with, he needs to have all of his teeth ‘roots’ surgically removed because that is what is causing all of the infections.
Then in order for him to be able to eat properly and eat healthy foods, he needs dentures for basic sustenance.
Tony’s surgery is way to much for us to handle right now. The Dentist told us that it will cost $12,800 to surgically remove his teeth roots, uppers and lowers, and install graphs, and upper and lower dentures so he can most importantly keep from losing his lower jaw, get rid of the infections, and get heathy once again by eating real food.
The current, wonderful dentist is letting us do this in steps, and accepts a payment plan, but needed a huge down payment upfront. We started to take care of the upper surgery first, and then later can do the lower surgery in the future.
I was in there while she was performing the surgery. She had pulled out many remaining roots from the upper jaw, and said there were several pus pockets. She added several graphs, and then stitched him up on both sides.
I will have a full update on his progress soon. For now, could you consider donating?
Any and all donations are welcome. Every little donation adds up and we appreciate any assistance for this needed dental emergency. Thank you
