On June 10th, my brother Tyler and his beloved dog Murphy were involved in a serious car accident when another vehicle unexpectedly pulled out in front of them. While Tyler thankfully escaped with only minor injuries, Murphy was not as lucky.
Murphy suffered multiple traumatic injuries, including a broken shoulder blade, several broken ribs, and bruised lungs. Most heartbreaking of all, she sustained a herniated disc that has left her paralyzed in her hind legs.
Murphy spent a week in the animal hospital fighting through immense pain, surrounded by specialists doing everything they could to stabilize her. Although she is now home, her road to recovery is just beginning — and it’s uncertain whether she’ll ever regain the use of her back legs.
This sweet girl will need ongoing veterinary care, rehabilitation, and potentially mobility aids to help her adapt to this new way of life. The cost of her treatment has already reached thousands of dollars, and her future medical needs such as check ups, additional hospitalizations, and physical therapy will and are continuing to add up.
Murphy means the world to Tyler. She’s not just a pet — she’s his best friend, his adventure buddy, and his emotional rock. Watching her go through this has been absolutely devastating, and we’re doing everything we can to give her the best chance at a happy, comfortable life.
If you’re able to contribute — no matter how small — it would mean the world to our family. Every dollar goes directly toward Murphy’s care and recovery. If you’re not able to give, please consider sharing this page to help us reach more people who might be able to help.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Tara Doratt
