Our names are Calvin and Laurie True. On May 8th, 2025, our youngest son, Marcus, was taking a walk in Omak and a woman with no driver’s license hit him with her car and drove off. If not for the kindness of Makayllie, who stopped and called 911, he would not be alive today. He was airlifted to Confluence ER in Wenatchee, had scans, then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, WA, where he was immediately taken to remove the blood from the brain bleed. He suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, 11 bone fractures, lacerated liver, and carotid artery injuries (both). He was intubated and on the ventilator for a week. He now has a tracheostomy and breathes on his own with minimal oxygen. He is unable to communicate. He opens his eyes and sometimes can track. His neurologic functions are slowly returning. It’s been 5 1/2 weeks. He is in Seattle at a skilled nursing facility that can care for a tracheostomy. Laurie has remained in Seattle and stays with him all day, every day. She has stayed at hotels and with friends. Calvin joined her and their hope is to remain with Marcus while waiting and praying for his brain to wake up and to relearn how to use his muscles to talk and walk.
Funds are needed for hotels or possibly a long-term stay at an RV park. We have no idea how long this will take. It can be up to or greater than a year. There are no facilities near our home that care for tracheostomies. We may also need funds for Laurie to remain on leave from work in Omak as an RN and possibly home modifications. Thank you so very much! Please also join the multitude of people who are praying for a full restoration of his body. Jesus was raised from the dead, surely the Holy Spirit can heal Marcus.
