My name is Heather, and I’m facing one of the toughest battles of my life. After a series of unrelated surgeries from September 2024 through February 2025, I was unable to work and have been struggling to get back on my feet. Just as I was starting to apply for jobs and look for work, I found a lump and was diagnosed with triple negative, metastatic breast cancer. This diagnosis has turned my world upside down, and I am now preparing to begin chemotherapy.
The financial strain has been overwhelming. Since becoming unemployed in October of last year, I’ve fallen behind on rent and utilities, and I’ve struggled to keep food on the table for myself and my 7-year-old son. We’ve been doing everything we can to maintain some normalcy in his life, but the ends just don’t meet. In April, our power was disconnected, and I had to use the last of my resources to get it turned back on. I’m also behind on my car payment and have been on the verge of eviction. My mom is traveling from Oregon to be with me during my treatment, but she is on a fixed income and has already helped as much as she can.
I’m reaching out for help so I can keep a roof over our heads, pay for basic necessities, and focus on my health and my son’s well-being. Any support will make a huge difference for us during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for reading my story and for any help you can offer.
