Dear friends, supporters, and kind-hearted souls around the world,
I write to you with a heavy heart. A tragic fire recently swept through my village, Unapani, in the remote Humla district of Nepal, leaving behind unimaginable loss. In just a few hours, eight homes were completely destroyed, and with them, the very foundation of several families’ lives.
Though we are thankful that no lives were lost, the destruction is overwhelming. Families have lost everything — their homes, food reserves, clothes, livestock, vital documents, farming tools, and all that they had built over generations. The financial loss runs into tens of millions of rupees, and the emotional toll is even greater.
This disaster has left eight families homeless:
Aka Phadera
Asha Phadera
Lalkura Phadera
Pale Phadera
Batuli Phadera
Birkha Rawat
Dhan Bahadur Rawat
Janak Rawat
In a region as isolated as Humla, government assistance is limited, and rebuilding without external support is near impossible. That’s why we are reaching out to you — to ask for your compassion and solidarity in this time of great need.
We have launched a fundraiser campaign to raise emergency relief funds to support the affected families. Your donation, no matter how small, can make a world of difference.
Your support will help provide:
1. Temporary shelters and warm clothing
2. Food, water, and other essentials
3. Materials and tools to rebuild homes
4. School supplies and emotional support for children
5. Livestock and farming tools to restart livelihoods
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this message with your community. Every act of kindness brings us one step closer to recovery.
Let’s come together as a global family and help these eight households restore their homes, dignity, and hope.
With heartfelt gratitude,
M.B. Thapa
