Belle came to me on rainy night, begging for help, about six years. She’s been a beloved part of our family ever since. I’ve since spoken to her previous owners who mentioned “they were done with her.” Well, we’re not! She’s now 18 years old, and after overcoming so much trauma and fear, she’s finally living the life she deserved all along. But Belle needs help. In her mind, she’s a playful kitten and the fearless leader of our two dog pack. But the reality is that her teeth are 18, and an abcess now threatens her life. She is currently in immense pain (her face has swelled like a softball), and If we cannot schedule surgery to perform teeth extractions, our only option is euthanasia. Sadly, and for various reasons, we have had a very tough 13 months and are not able to swing the surgery as required. I know just about everyone is having a tougher time financially, but, if you can help with anything, perhaps a group of us can collectively save this little girl who so desperately wants to stay with us, and us with her. She’s fighting through the pain with such grace and tremendous love – comforting me with purring and kisses – as I do my best to comfort her. We’ve spent the weekend at the emergency vet and got her everything we could to buy the very little time we have to schedule her surgery. If you can help, please know how grateful we are that you would consider this little cat you likely have never met. Just know she is remarkable. I wouldn’t dream of asking otherwise.
