Our daughter Bonnie is just 3 months old and is scheduled for open heart surgery at Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno on July 15—the same day as her brother’s second birthday. This is an incredibly emotional time for our family, as we prepare for a long and complex procedure that will take about six hours. We are hopeful for a smooth recovery, but we know there are many challenges ahead.
To be with Bonnie during her surgery and recovery, we will need to travel to Fresno and stay by her side in the hospital. This means leaving our four other children in the care of family while we focus on Bonnie’s health. Bonnie’s dad will need to take time off work, and if her hospital stay is longer than expected, we may face even more time away and additional expenses. The costs of travel, lodging, and mounting medical bills are overwhelming, and we are reaching out for support to help us through this difficult time.
