Our daughter Bonnie Lopez Guerrero is a strong and happy 3-month-old baby girl who was born with heart failure. She needs two open heart surgeries—one coming up on July 15 and another when she turns one. This has been an incredibly difficult time for our family, as I have to leave our hometown of Bakersfield and our four other children behind to be by Bonnie’s side at Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno, nearly three hours away.
The distance and the uncertainty have been hard on all of us. Bonnie’s dad travels back and forth every weekend to see her, and we’re missing our son’s second birthday because it falls on the same day as Bonnie’s surgery. Thankfully, my fiancé’s family is helping care for our other children while I stay with Bonnie. We are focusing this fundraiser on covering Bonnie’s medical bills and the travel expenses that come with being so far from home.
We are deeply grateful for any support during this time. Our greatest wish is to have Bonnie home, healthy and safe, as soon as possible. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us, and we know that with your help, everything will be okay.
