Pir Koh, Dera Bugti is currently undergoing one of its worst water shortages in recent years. Previusly, these water shortages have contributed to cholera outbreaks and the local population, especially women, children, and the elderly developing chronic health problems.
Despite there being around 400 bone wells in the area, there are consistent water shortages where thousands have to rely on a few tankers a week, or a single bore well. Access to clean water is a basic human right that is being denied here
This is also not just about water. Over the past 15 months, 54 pregnant women have died here, their conditions exacerbated by this shortage.
So, what do the local communities suggest?
1) An urgent medical camp to assess and mitigate the impacts
2) Solar panels for bore wells
I’m trying to fundraise for to hold this medical camp aimed at the most vulnerable population here.
