Howdy y’all, I’m Anthony Fermin and I’m an LGBTQ+/BIPOC artist and home brewer, pursuing my career as a brewer in the craft brewing industry. I’m an advocate and supporter within various communities, striving for what’s best and strengthening inclusivity and diversity.
I’d like to capitalize on my successes, such as winning an LGBTQ+/BIPOC scholarship to attend a well-recognized brewing technology academy and redefining beer recipes and efficiency improvements, my hard labor and the education I’ve earned are still underrepresented within the current company, and I’m very much undervalued.
A new brewery recognizes my values and talent and offered me the position to work with their company and represent workers that are still underrepresented within the craft brewery industry. The new brewery company is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it’s the first Latino-owned and operated company. I was more than happy to take their offer, and I’ll be relocating to the city by mid-July.
I’m faced with challenges ahead, through fundraiser any aid I will receive will go towards a security deposit and 2-3 months of rent and utilities, cost to ship my personal belongings, and safely arrive to the city of Boston with my beloved parakeets.
Through my sheer willpower, my desire to make change in the industry, and the kindness and generosity of others, I will achieve my dream not only to be their assistant brewer but eventually to be head brewer and strengthen the Latin-American and BIPOC communities.
