Hi, my name is Judith, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help in caring for my mother, who is now entering comfort care at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
My mom has been fighting Stage 4 lung cancer for the past three and a half years. Despite the odds, she faced every challenge head-on—with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and even radiation to the brain when the cancer metastasized. She’s endured grueling treatments that caused intense pain, weakness, and even a severe bacterial infection that left her with sores and required emergency care. Through it all, she never gave up.
Recently, an infection left her critically ill, immobile, and extremely weak. She required emergency interventions like a central line and was at one point close to needing intubation. Though her condition has stabilized amongst the critical, she will be transferred home for comfort care and will require 24-hour nursing support, specialized meals, and essential medical supplies to manage her symptoms and keep her as comfortable as possible.
Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the full cost of these services, and we are doing everything we can as a family—but we simply can’t do it alone. We have tried providing her with all types of food and healthy shakes/drinks in order to support her healing and getting better but it has taken a financial toll on us and we are already facing financial strains.
We are humbly asking for your help so we can:
Hire 24/7 in-home nursing care
Provide nutritious, condition-appropriate meals
Cover medical equipment and supplies
Offer her dignity, peace, and comfort in her final days
About My Mother
My mom is the strongest person I know. She raised us with almost nothing, working two jobs while attending college to make sure we had what we needed—even if it meant going without herself. I still remember the nights when there was barely enough food, and she made sure we ate before she did. Thanks to her sacrifices, we were able to finish school, go to college, and earn a master’s degree. None of that would have been possible without her. She instilled in us courage, empathy, love, determination, and a will to succeed while forming our own families.
Even as cancer took its toll on her body, she kept going. She’s been a fighter in every sense of the word—resilient, selfless, and full of love. This experience has brought deep emotional pain to our family, but also a sense of unity and perspective. We don’t know how much time we have left with her, but we want to make every moment count, ensuring that she is safe, cared for, and surrounded by love.
Any amount helps. Whether it’s $5, $50, or even just sharing this page, your support means the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
Her Family!
From our mother:
