Dear friends, family, and our Wichita community,
Early this morning, on June 17, 2025, severe storms ripped through Wichita and surrounding communities, unleashing powerful straight-line winds and torrential rainfall. The National Weather Service confirmed these storms brought damaging winds and hail, capable of tearing roofs off buildings, impacting homes and businesses throughout Sedgwick County, including Villa Boxing Club.
What happened at Villa Boxing Club?
The storm tore off the club’s roof, leaving the gym exposed to the elements, water damage, and structural risk. Puddles and debris now fill the once-busy training space, degrading the flooring and equipment.
With the roof gone, classes are suspended and hundreds, kids, teens, adults, have suddenly lost their fitness sanctuary and safe place.
Why Villa Boxing Club matters
For decades, Villa Boxing Club has been Wichita’s longest-running boxing gym, serving as more than a training center, it’s a community cornerstone .
It welcomes all ages (from 8 to 100+) and fitness levels, from first-timers to competitive boxers.
Membership is affordable, and members say it’s more than a gym, it’s a “family atmosphere” and a “home away from home”.
How you can help
This fundraiser campaign will raise funds to:
Replace the roof, tarps, and sturdy coverings.
Repair water-damaged flooring and restore the ring and training surfaces.
Replace soaked equipment, heavy bags, pads, jump ropes.
Possibly a storage unity for some items.
