Dear Friends, Supporters, and Anyone Who’s Ever Argued with Their Car Door,
Let us tell you the story of a girl and her car. It’s not a love story. It’s a trauma bond.
Eight months ago, Tzippy bought a engine for her 2009 Honda Civic, after it made the bold decision to overheat and die. That engine came with a 6-month warranty. The engine, being the punctual little gremlin it is, waited exactly two months beyond the warranty to overheat again—on her way to work. Twice. In a week.
Tzippy works in the Bronx. Taking the subway to work is not a quirky lifestyle choice; it’s a daily gamble. We’re talking unreliable commutes, safety concerns, and the constant question of “Will I make it to my 9 a.m. or will I star in a viral video today?”
She needs a car that starts, runs, and unlocks from the driver’s side without her crawling across the passenger seat like a raccoon. She needs a car with working AC. She needs to get to work safely and consistently—this is a safety concern for her life and those of her future children.
If you believe in reliability, safety, and people showing up to their jobs not drenched in sweat or subway trauma, please consider donating. Tzippy is asking you to chip in. Every dollar brings her closer to a car that gives her peace of mind and doesn’t ruin her week at random.
Your contribution will go directly toward helping her purchase a dependable car—a basic necessity disguised as a “privilege” in New York, but which in the Bronx, is nothing short of a survival tool.
Thank you for your support, laughs, and help getting Tzippy out of this codependent relationship with her car and into something safer, calmer, and ideally, driveable.
With love (and hopefully keys that work),
Tzippy
