Help Nikki & Jonah Rebuild After a Devastating Flash Flood
Hi, my name is Jessie, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my cousin Nikki and her husband Jonah, whose home was devastated by a flash flood in the early hours of June 12.
At 3 a.m., their sweet dog Daisy started crying and pawing at the bed. At first, Nikki thought she was just scared of the storm, but when she got up, she stepped into ankle-deep water. Their house was flooding.
Jonah immediately ran to shut off the power as furniture, clothes, electronics, and appliances began floating through the house. Water was rising fast. They made it to the front porch, called 911, and were told: “Get to higher ground immediately.” They loaded Daisy and their other dogs into the truck and waited in a parking lot for over 3 hours, trying to grasp what had just happened.
When they returned, the water had mysteriously drained, but the damage was everywhere — floors soaked, mud and debris across every room, and mold already forming.
Their home, their clothes, their furniture, their washer and dryer, their dogs’ beds — everything — had been hit. Nikki and Jonah had been told they were in a no-flood zone, even advised not to get flood insurance by multiple sources, including their insurer. Now they’re facing this disaster with no coverage.
This fundraiser will help Nikki and Jonah:
Replace damaged flooring and baseboards
Remove mold safely and professionally
Replace essential appliances and furniture
Rebuild their lives from the ground up
We’ve included some of the photos from that night and the days that followed to show the heartbreaking reality they’re living through.
If you’re able to give, even just a little, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you’re not, please consider sharing this with your network to help spread the word.
And if there’s one bright spot — it’s Daisy. Without her, Nikki and Jonah might not have woken up in time.
Let’s help them get back on their feet.
With love and gratitude,
Jessie
