My sister, Jean Disereits, has faced unimaginable health challenges since December. She is living with stage 5 kidney failure and final stage heart failure, and her mobility has been severely limited. After a silent heart attack, a small stroke, and the removal of her defibrillator due to infection, Jean’s body has become extremely fragile. She now struggles with frequent falls, painful sores, and fluid buildup in her legs, making even the simplest daily tasks nearly impossible without help.
Jean moved in with me in January 2025, and I am her only caregiver. I help her with everything from dressing and bathing to cooking and cleaning. Despite my best efforts, her world has become very small—she spends most days inside, unable to enjoy the outdoors or even a simple trip to the store. Watching her lose her independence and joy has been heartbreaking.
A basic scooter and a lift for our pickup truck would be life-changing for Jean. With these, I could safely take her out to the park or the store, giving her a chance to experience happiness and hope again. Your support would help restore some freedom and dignity to her life, allowing us to spend meaningful time together outside the confines of our home.
