Hi, my name is Ian, and I’m asking for help to save my wife Erin’s life. Erin is an amazing mother to are three children and I love her with all my heart.
On Christmas Day 2023, Erin suffered a massive heart attack. Since then, our world has been turned upside down. What we believed was a single, tragic event has unfolded into a complex and terrifying medical crisis.
Erin, 38, has now been diagnosed with:
• Severe heart damage (no movement on her center arterial wall)
• Myasthenia Gravis, a rare autoimmune disease causing breathing issues
• Super POTS, causing blood pressure instability
• Heart shunting, likely from an undiagnosed birth defect
• Dangerous heart rhythms that cause fainting, seizures, and loss of oxygen
• A still-undiagnosed neurological condition affecting her major organs
• Cachexia (wasting syndrome) — her body is shutting down
Despite repeated ER visits, we’ve been consistently denied care from our local hospital. Her specialists believe her life is at risk because she has not received the follow-up or monitoring she desperately needs. One doctor told us plainly: she may not survive the summer.
Our Last Hope: Treatment in Edmonton
We’ve found specialists in Edmonton, Alberta who have reviewed Erin’s records and believe they can help. But we need to get her there, and quickly. We’ve already booked cardiology, and internal medicine appointments for late August.
The cost of travel, temporary housing, uncovered medications (one alone is $3,000/month), and living expenses while I care for Erin and our son has become overwhelming. Erin is too sick to work, and I’ve had help care for her and our son.
Our Son Liam
We’re also raising our 4-year-old son Liam, who has been diagnosed with autism and severe cognitive impairment. He needs full-time support, therapy, and a 1:1 care worker — which we’re still waiting for. I’m doing everything I can to be there for both of them.
What We Need
I’m asking for $125,000 to give our family one year of stability — time for Erin to fight for her life, time to support Liam, and time to survive this crisis together.
This will cover:
• Medical travel & housing in Edmonton
• Life-saving prescriptions
• Day-to-day living expenses
• Liam’s specialized care
• Emergency or end-of-life costs, if it comes to that
I never thought I’d have to ask for this. But I’ve run out of options. If we don’t act now, Erin may not make it.
If you can help — with a donation or by sharing — it would mean everything to us. You’re not just giving money. You’re giving us hope, time, and possibly a second chance at life.
Thank you for reading.
With love and gratitude,
Ian, Erin, Lilie, Isaac and Liam
