Help Lay Hank Uto to Rest — Honor a Brother Who Loved the God of Israel
⸻
Story:
We are heartbroken to share that Hank Uto—a quiet, faithful man who devoted his life to caring for others—passed away suddenly before he could be formally converted to Judaism, a journey he had long embraced with sincerity and love.
Hank lived a life rooted in service and spiritual devotion. He kept Shabbat, studied Torah, celebrated the holidays, and aligned his life with the God of Israel. Though he didn’t make it to the mikvah, Hank lived as a Jew in heart and in practice. One of his greatest dreams was to visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem and offer a prayer—something he talked about often. Tragically, that dream was never realized.

A Devoted Foster Father and Faithful Friend
Hank was not married, but he shared his home and life with his female best friend and caregiving partner, a disabled U.S. military veteran. Together, they fostered children, providing a loving home and spiritual foundation.
Their foster son—who Hank raised with great love and purpose—previously attended Hillel Academy in Tampa, where he thrived in a Jewish learning environment. Sadly, since Hank’s passing, the family can no longer afford the tuition or many of their basic living needs.

Hank Still Hasn’t Been Buried
Most heartbreaking of all:
Hank’s remains are still not buried.
His loved ones do not have the funds to give him the funeral he deserves.
He was the main provider for his household. Now, his caregiving partner is trying to manage grief, financial crisis, and care for their foster son—all while living with her own service-related disability.
