Hi everyone, my name is Selwa and I am an artist based in the DFW area. I am raising funds for my dear friend who is fleeing a domestic violence situation.
She is a single mother of two who recently fled an abusive partner. Fearing for her safety, she fled with her kids to temporarily stay with a friend.
For years, she has been on waitlists for shelters but with no luck. She pretty much left the house with her kids and the clothes on their backs. She is actively seeking out better housing options, job stability, and a better life for herself and her kids but she needs support in the process.
It is a long process to even get access to a counselor, case manager, housing assistance. With no car in Dallas, daily transportation is expensive. On top of that she is taking care of her two children with no source of income. He sabotaged her ability to get a job, use their car, and mentally or physically feel safe. By preventing her from building her own life, she is essentially starting from scratch.
We are asking for financial support to help her out as she transitions into a healthier life. Our goal is to cover daily expenses (food, cosmetics, clothing, transportation, other essentials) as well as to cover the costs of rent, applications and other fees in the process of finding a place and getting back on her feet within the next couple months.
