Hello, My name is Eric,
My family and I are trying to raise the necessary funds to help with my father’s medical expenses. .
It has become to much for our family to support financially on our own, and the health system in NS is doing very little (we have been looking into every source possible to help with these expenses).
Let me tell you a little bit about my father.
“Benny” as we and everyone who knows him likes to call him, is one of the most friendly people you will ever meet. You see, Benny is well known in our hockey communities. For 20+ years of volunteering, he has become a familiar face in and around the rink. If you have spent any time in a facility for hockey, you probably have heard of or even met Benny. He has spent his last few years heavily involved with the South Shore Lumberjacks Jr B Hockey Club of the NSJHL.
He is always eager to lend a helping hand, give a high five or a hug depending on what you are in need of at the time. He leaves a long lasting, positive impression on everyone he meets right away. From his everyday smile, to his ability to treat everyone as a person or a friend…that’s our Benny.
Benny’s Story:
Benny has a hernia which had stopped growing. As of last week, Doctor’s have advised us that the hernia has been increasing in size, has now intertwined with all his organs and is not operable here in Halifax. Benny has also been newly diagnosed with a serious heart condition which will also have to be addressed with surgery. It will cost thousands of dollars to fly him to either Toronto or Vancouver just to see if anything can be done to help with the hernia firsthand because we have been advised that he may have to wait until the hernia bursts which is very dangerous for my father because of his heart condition which will also require another much needed surgery.
My father has a lot of life left in him and we are trying our best to make sure that happens.
As of now, he is struggling with day to day bills and especially with his medications which are a growing expense with each passing day.
We have finally made a decision to try and raise the funds needed through this Go Fund Me page and hopefully be able to help my father in anyway possible. Any funds raised will be solely used for any medical expenses which are not covered along with flying him to Toronto or Vancouver for the much needed surgery.
