My name is Nina. I am a single mother of a 15-year-old son. I am keeping his image and name private for his protection; I worry he will be teased and possibly made fun of over our situation. His dad and I split when I was 2 weeks pregnant. He was addicted to drugs, and I needed to keep my son safe. He is currently $27k in debt for child support. I’ve had to constantly move to stay safe from him, which has made us very unstable, especially when it comes to a career. I am 6 classes shy of graduating with a BA in Business Management but haven’t been able to finish due to the high costs of living. I was working in sales with a draw that only covered rent, car insurance, and some groceries. I began getting further and further behind, then my car died. I had bills piling up because the cost of transportation to get to and from work exceeded what I could afford.
I ended up having to quit my job and now we are in fear of losing our apartment. I am raising money to get a reliable vehicle so that I can start applying for a career, not just a job! I’ve decided to put myself out there which is very hard for me, as I am always used to taking care of us on my own. I do not have family and only a handful of friends. Having a vehicle that is dependable will get us back on our feet. I’m not sure if anyone can respond to this but I’d love help finding a career as well. I have belonged to Eaglebrook Church for 18 years now, my faith is very important to me. I know God has a larger plan for my life; I just have a hurdle to get over to get there.
