Hey, my name is Valerie Webster. I am 65 years of age with limited physical ability as well as a heart condition, and I was evicted from Johnson Lakes Seniors Apts last Thursday with my grandson who may have autism. His mother is in prison, and we don’t know who his real father is.
My story started about two years ago with complaints about the condition of the building and apartments. This property has been on the news several times: Fair Housing, Code Enforcement, and Channel 3 News. The roofs were damaged by Sally, and for three years it rained through, causing black mold and leaks in my apartment. I cleaned the carpet four times, and it still wasn’t clean. The judge in Dec of 2023 said not to pay the landlord any more money. This year, I almost went through the floor; that’s the only thing they fixed this year in my apartment. There is still black mold, and I didn’t stop sneezing until I left there.
I have no friends or family to help me. Also, I didn’t have central air and heat for two years. Nothing was repaired but the floor a month ago. Everything else was still the black mold on the ceiling, living room, and first bedroom where my grandkids were sleeping. We need some help to get a place to live.
And God bless you for your help.
