With deep sadness, we share the passing of our beloved Shanika Smith — a vibrant, fun-loving, and deeply caring woman who bravely fought cancer for five years.
In 2020, Shanika was diagnosed with breast cancer. Over time, the illness spread to her bones and eventually to her brain. Through it all — radiation, chemotherapy, and countless doctor visits — Shanika showed unmatched strength and grace. She even rang the bell after completing radiation treatment, a moment that gave hope to everyone who loved her.
But this past month, shortly after her birthday, Shanika’s condition worsened, and she entered the final stage of her illness. She passed away peacefully this past Saturday, surrounded by love.
Shanika was more than her diagnosis. She was a joyful soul who loved to dance, cook, laugh, and lift up everyone around her. She poured her heart into raising her three daughters.
Her greatest joy was being their mother. Now, in the wake of this heartbreaking loss, her oldest daughter, Miracle, will take custody of her minor sister’s ages 8 and 16. At just 20 years old, Miracle is stepping into a role most people twice her age would struggle with — and she needs our support.
This fundraiser has two important purposes:
1. To help lay Shanika to rest with the peace and dignity she deserves.
2. To support her daughters, especially Miracle, as she takes on the responsibility of caring for her siblings.
All contributions will go toward funeral arrangements and directly assisting the girls with essentials like housing, food, school supplies, and day-to-day expenses during this difficult transition.
Shanika gave so much to those around her. She was active in her community, a proud participant in the Sister Walk, and always ready with a helping hand or warm hug. Now, it’s our turn to honor her by lifting up her children.
Any donation — large or small — makes a difference. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this campaign to help us reach others who can.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, prayers, and support.
With love and gratitude
