On July 29, 2025, our beloved William “Bill” Dudley Herring passed away at the age of 70. A devoted husband, father, friend, and servant to his community, Bill left behind a legacy of care, laughter, and love.
Bill proudly served for 15 years with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, earning deep respect through his commitment to protecting others. But he wasn’t just a public servant, he was the kind of person who quietly showed up for the people around him, whether by fixing a car engine, lending a listening ear, or making someone laugh when they needed it most.
He had an incredible talent for working with his hands and an even greater gift for making people feel seen, supported, and loved. A man of strong faith, Bill was a dedicated member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church, where his spirit of fellowship and compassion touched many.
We’ve created this memorial fund in honor of Bill to support Mt. Elon Baptist Church and help continue the work and values that meant so much to him. Your donation, no matter the size, will help celebrate a life well lived and carry forward the legacy of someone who always looked out for others.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution here or directly to Mt. Elon Baptist Church.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support during this time.
With gratitude,
The Herring Family
